how do i get people to notice my forum?

I have had my forum for some time and no one has bothered to visit it, or add any topics. Is there a good, quick way to get people to look at my site Question

Try Google AdWords:
adwords.google.com <= that wont help you much anyway and talking about your forum on others people forum's is not a very good idea as well, specialy if the admin of the forums did not give you they're autorization to do so.

Hello.

It's not only on the advertisement you have to work. You have also to work on the section organization, the design and the content, to make your forum more attractive.

Section organization

First of all, I see that there's a "info section" with a "rules" topic. But it's hardly enough... I suggest you to add more rules (no p2p links, no porn, no defamatory stuff, no insults, no advertising by PM, etc.), and the possible sanctions that your members may get when they don't respect the rules.

Just below, I suggest you to add a Presentation section (where the members can intruduce themselves) and a Suggestion/Proposals section where members can propose something to make the forum more attractive (design, sectons, etc.)

Secundo, the structure of your section looks shuffled. In the last part, I see :

-Website design
---Website building
------ (three sub-forums)

I suggest you to remove one of the two categories (Website design or Website building).

After all that, I recommand you to change the index packing by going to Admin Panel > Yellow arrow > Configuration+ > Index packing > Medium. By doing that, your index will look much nicer (see Larme d'ange's "Display of your forum" topic in the FAQ for more details).

About the design, I see that there's some little work done, but don't hesitate to customize it more. If you understand French, there are many graphic art boards on the French side ( https://www.forumotion.com/fr ).

And finally, about the content, don't hesitate to open new topics. The administrator must do the first steps to start the board activity

With my advices, your board will look better and more attractive. Once the changes done, you can do some advertising and have your board indexed on different forum directories and search engines (google, yahoo, msn, etc.)

I'd also like to suggest that you make your forum more clear...

It seems as if its dedicated to runescape, but is that all or is there anything else behind it??

Another point is that the font on your logo is hard to read, if you want your font to look oldish, I'd advise you use Lucidia Calligraphy - it's much clearer and has the same effect

in a way dojeta ur right, i'm a big runescape fan but i tried to add some more cool stuff, i.e. Game maker, a game making program - Website design, i like to make websites.

If there is anymore feedback then plz tell me because i really want to know, and read ur input

Well, if you couls send me by P.M the whole idea of your forum, I can always see what help I can give.
I'm sort of used to helping people with this sort of problem. Ive got a forum, my bro has, friends do and so on

All I can add for now is if there are several aspects to your forum, clearly seperate them using titles while keeping in the same theme. You could have a section 'about this forum' and explain everything.

Where can i advertise for free?

I want people to visit my forum, I have done lots of alteration to the forum but I've only got 2 members!!!

Well, I don't know how (I'll find out by Monday the latest), but I know that you can have your forum on google for free.
Otherwise, there are certain places that propose free publicity if you publicise them on your forum.
Some forums have a publicity button, where you can freely publicise your forum (or website) there.
Finally, try and get your forum on a top 50 type site so people can run across it

Hello Dragonman,I'm afraid to say that there aren't any miraculous receipe. Dojeta and Katt, gave you all the answers that have to be knowed, and to have members to come on your forum, I'm afraid to say that you'll have to be patient.

I've got for myself a forum as well, and it been existing for quite a few month now, and I only have 30 members regitred, but on these 30 members, some of them don't come very often any more, and some other's just have forgotten the name of my forum, so despite the fact that this forum does exist for quite sometime I really hardly have in real more than ten members on the 30 that have registered.
