Roleplay "Bar" Feature

I wanna incorporate a health/rank-up bar for fun, but when I create the bar field, and enter the default value, there is no way to increase or decrease it without going into the profile of the person and changing it.

Is there a way I can have this bar actually gain/lose points depending on what a user does? And will this require coding? I'm certainly no coder, and I don't know how to do anything past what's offered in the admin panel.

With reputation, however, it's only plus or minus a single point.
