Sorry, but you can't create password protected forums, you can make forums only accessible to mods, admins, groups or members though.

This can be done by setting the forums permissions to whatever you want, this can be done when creating a forum or clicking the "Permissions" link next to the forums name in the admin panel (Admin Panel > Forum )
