double email confirmation
A lot of newly registered users on my forum write their email wrong the first time they register.
This leads to them not receiving and activation email from my forum and later never coming back to the forum because of that.
Now, I am looking and searching for a way to make them enter their email when registering and then CONFIRMING it while registering (I am sure you know what I think, like with passwords when you write it and then confirm it), as I think this would ensure that the problem is solved.
Is there a way to do this, and if not, might this be a suggestion for implementation?
Thank you.

Re: double email confirmation
If you go into the Administration Panel you can fix this issue.
go to; Users & Groups - Users - User Options.
The second setting is 'New accounts activation' Just change this to 'Automatic activation' so members do not need to use their e-mails at all to enter the site. I hope that is helpful.

Isn't there a danger from spambots if I let them activate it automatically?
Re: double email confirmation

there is no way to get a double email confirmation?
if a member messes up on there email then they have to register again with the correct email. or if they are not activating there account with the email they received for activation then you can activated it.
remember a member can only register one account per email.
i suppose they can send a new pass to there selves, but it's not going to go through if the account was never activated. be sure to tell people to check there spam box in there email account because sometimes the activation links can go there.
other than that, check your inactive members list and activate them if they don't know how to check there email and activate it. or put it on auto activation.
this just seems a Lil silly to me.

Re: double email confirmation
I am sure it does. I've put it on auto activation, but I'd rather have them manually activate it and for that to be "good" they really should confirm their email otherwise they have to create a new account and there will be a bunch of those dead accounts lying around.
Nevermind though since I activated the auto activation. I just hope no spambots will join.
