redirects on forum? Empty redirects on forum?

can anyone tell me how i can put a link/banner onto the forum on my home page which redirects to the site ? ive seen it answered here a few weeks ago so i think it is possible........but i cant find it now.
im wanting to put a new catagory with several forums with direct links to certain sites.
