Solved Help with Portal Widget and forum content

Hello, My name is Byron. I just made my forum and have been trying to figure out everything I can do and not do. I have been able to figure out many things on my own but there is one problem I am having.
I Have an anime forum and I have visited other forums and noticed that The content from their forum that is usually in the center of the homepage can be made into a list using a widget on the right column. What i cannot figure out is how to make one thing from the site into a widget Because I cannot find any Html for My Categories. Please help me!! I have been trying for 2 months now, and still can't figure it out
