How to make your board index with icons?

My forum is PHPBB2, anyway, I'd like to make the board index with icons, my graphics designer is working on the icons. What I want to know is how to put them in locations like this: http://www.ego-one.com/forum.htm . So uhh hopefully Jalokim can respond to this thread. Anyway, thanks in advance and I appreciate your help.

In my view, those icons are simply placed in a fiew different tables in the homepage message :
AP>> Display>> Home>> Generalities> Homepage message

Your question relates only to the location of icons, but otherwise, yes, needs also some CSS.
