Is there a setting for where when a user joins a group, he/she is automatically given a new rank?

Yes by minimum # of posts, when you create a rank put that as 0.
So he immediately gets a rank.

No I mean when the person joins a group, he/she is given the rank. Even if they switch groups, the rank changed.
