Portal Width Empty Portal Width

There is a small problem with my portal width.I created the portal and Obviosuly noted that the widgets are too small but the news area (central Area) is so big.My forum width is 100 (% or number) but the portal is too big...Here is How I have set it

Width Column One (Left) 30%
Width Column Two (Center) 40%
Width Column Three (Right) 30%

Kindly help me figure This out
