Ratio's and pixels
i asked mario about this topic and he says :
I have a question about Aspect ratio's and Pixels . Hope someone can help
Now , 1920 x 1080 px is 16:9
and 7200 x 4050 px is also 16:9
Here is the article about :
i want to know , how do i know , that is is 16:9? and how to make out of number from 16:9? and how to maintain a ratio of 16:9 >.<" i dont get this aspect ratio's things Please dont give wikipedia or something because i have googled it up , and still dont know what it is so i hope someone can explain this in a dummy and in a detailed way
Edit : i did some googles , and found this

thx mario XDThat will be fine.

Aspect ratios are not predetermined pixel sizes . They're just a method to keep a certain level of standardization in framing. A popular 16:9 resolution today is 1920 x 1080 pixels for high defintion television . If you choose to do a picture in 16:9 , this does not mean at all that you have to use that pixel resolution. All you have to do is maintain a 16:9 ratio. Thus, you can do a picture that s , say 7200 x 4050 pixels . Depside its much larger size , it is still 16:9

i tried to divide 7200 / 4050 , 1920 / 1080 and i got 1.78 , why isnt it 16:9 O_OWhat is aspect ratio?
An image's aspect ratio is the ratio of the width and the height. To determine your image's aspect ratio, simply divide the largest number of your resolution by the smallest. For example, a pixel size of 4000x6000 has an aspect ratio of 1:1.50 because 6000 divided by 4000 is 1.50..

The questions are :
1 ) tried to divide 7200 / 4050 , 1920 / 1080 and i got 1.78 , why isnt it 16:9 O_O ?
2 ) i want to know , how do i know , that is is 16:9? and how to make out of number from 16:9? and how to maintain a ratio of 16:9 >.<"

Re: Ratio's and pixels
its 16pixel wide to 9pixels high
so for each 16 pixels horizontally you get 9 pixels vertically. Thats how you should understand it.
when you divide 1920/1080 you get 1,7
but its
1,7 to 1 (1,7:1)
now multiply that by 9 and see what you get
1,7*9 = 16,02
1*9= 9
so 16,02 : 9
or simply 16:9

Hi jalo
i was expecting you to reply yes , after a while i posted this topic , i get it about the 16 pixel horizontal and 9 pixel vertical .
and about the when i divide 1920 / 1080 you get 1.78 and i tried x 9 , yes it is like your answer , ;D i get most of the part now , but , why does it have to x 9?
edit :
ahh , dont worry , i got it now my friend told me the detailed solution still , thx jalo , dont close this thread yet ;o i might have more questions to ask

Re: Ratio's and pixels
you multipy by 9 because you want your end result to be 16:9
since 16:9 is the standardized ratio , instead of saying 1,7:1 you multiply by 9 to say 16:9
Don't ask me why 16:9
There is a lot of wiggle room in this matter.
for example my resolution 1280x800 is also called 16:9 but in fact it turns out 14:9

Re: Ratio's and pixels
hmmmm , the way is like this right? ( for finding out what ratio it is ( yeah i know , its basic maths xD ))
hmmm isnt 1280 x 700 is 16:9 ratio? :o why is it 800 ? :O
