links that open in a new window

I have put a link on my forum to a friends website, however I would like it to open up in a new window when my members click on it, so that they are not directed away from my forum completely...... can someone tell me how I do this please ?

To open your link in a new window... Add: target="_blank"

It doesn't seem to work.....

When I upload a picture, it then has a link button which allows to me to put the website site address in for the picture but when I add the target="_blank" it doesn't make any difference...

Am I doing it wrong ?

Thanks RoNo, but I think I have explained it wrong.

I'll start again !!

On our front page, just underneath the individual topics we have a logo for companies that sponsor that particular section. The logo is uploaded under the "General" tab/ Forums/ then the individual section. This then brings up a box that you can either type in the company name/upload a picture or insert html. Just above this you can click the "link" button and put in the companies web address. Then when a member clicks on the logo they will be transfered to the sponsors web address. This doesn't open in a new window and I feel we will lose traffic because of this.

I have put your html code into the html box but when I view the forum it just shows the type, not the picture (which I edited your code)

I know I am doing something very simple wrong, but can't work out what it is.
