How to make an EDITED Post appear as a NEW Post?

Out of curiosity, is there any way to make the settings on the forum count an "edit" as a new post? (I.e., states the newest update, rather than just keeping the old date.) I hate to double post, but if I add something on to a topic, and I was the last one to post on it, then the "edit" doesn't show up as new content, and stays further down the list.
