admin panel>general>configuration>put your own fav icon url on the "Forum favicon">then save it.

Administrator's Panel => Configuration => Copy the URL's image you wish to be your Favicon Image.

Actually, that does not work directly unless you have an .ICO file.

There is another of adding a FavIcon, you can check out how to do so by clicking here.

I finally hosted my favicon in www.hostanyimage.com.
No need for registration,takes ico files. just great!
No can even IE users see it!

EDIT: Hostanyimage.com doesn't work anymore.

Now I used www.iconj.com.
There are loads of ready made favicons to choose as well.
