Categories in main page

how do i get categories to show up in the home page of my forum, i go there and it says "this board has no forums" and sure i dont have forums yet but i do have 2 categories, and now even when i make a forum it wont show up

Could you post a screenshot of the forum permissions?

Display>Structure & hierarchy
Split categories on Index: Medium
Save.

no but when i tried it before i took your advice nothing showed up at all, ill try that tho, still not working if you sign up i could give you admin rights then could you fix it for me, that would be much appreciated, if not oh well

For that one more category to work, you need to attach a forum to that category.

They must already be separated.
