Editing the 'message box'

Is it possible to edit the background or font color of the message box like when people are tying a message. It is presently white and difficult for people to see the orange font when typing.

this is one of the two reasons i have not changed over to version 3 as i have white text on black on version 2
but it does not transfer completely to the new version , also the search box is the same

sorry to moan guys as
with out your knowledge and host my forum would not be what it is today
