Plans before starting a new forum Empty Plans before starting a new forum

Like when writing an essay for your teacher at school, you think about what you're going to write before you actually start writing.

So, how do you plan out everything that's going to be for your forum before you start your forum?

Before I started my forum, I planned out the categories & forums, the theme I was going to use and methods to gain traffic.

I was not really worried about staff at the time, so I was the only staff member that you could have found at my forum, Razz

I really didn't plan much out in mine. I just made it, and got in the flow... Kinda like freehand writing, you just put whatever comes to your mind. Razz

I pretty much thought what I was going to make my forum about, turned out to be a gaming discussion forum, then I realized if I wanted to stand out from the rest, I had to really put alot of thought into forums(not much the categories) Hem, then I added ranks like admin mod, and post ranks etc, then I just tried too find out ways to get people(besides telling friends) then the rest was just natural thinking Laughing

The RPG Forums I had with my brother were done without too much work before hand and a lot of work during. They didn't turn out too badly.
We did alot of publicising at that moment. We were even in thez top 10 DBZ forums loove

Afterwards, I put alot of effort in the drawning board but the forums never saw daylight. Or if they did, they weren't open for long. I think it's more a lack of personal time than interest of eventual members

I thought about the different forums, and the look of it. I didn't think of the staff or anything, like you. ;D

I knew what my forum was going to be about etc but I only made it because I was bored one day and I ended up continuing!

Planning and doing the necessary research is crucial, especially if you want to serve online. Don't just jump into creating your website or forum. Take some time determining the best topic.
