Space in post when using html code

I'm trying to create a topic that has html drop menus in it. When I click send this is what I end up with:



I clicked the button and got rid of the space. But It ends up messing up the code and I end up with this:



Is there any way to get rid of the gap without using the ?

Or is there a way to create a drop down menu with bbcode?
