How to create seamless buttons?

I've seen forums have buttons that aren't like separated, they're all like in one picture. How to do that?

And how to put rollover buttons in the menu?

I think best way is to create your bar as a single extra large button, and then cut it.

For example mine is that file.

You can notice i didn't cut it. I cut that navbar directly via CSS. Maybe a bit longer to configure my css stylesheet, but at least browsers only have to load one pic for all normal buttons and all hover buttons. I use only 2 states but you can notice i can switch colors as often as i want.

guys for those seamless pics, i dont know about everyone else but i just made my button pic go right to the edge of the photoshop page.

now to my question:

how do you make it so the image changes from the same url??

e.g. i currently have to images/2 url's and its not really working using two dif url's because theres a massive delay before the whtie writing appears... help please

Okay, I got the whole thing working and all. And I already changed the forum look so the codes and things are gone. I cannot remember how to get the search rollover button working.
