Chatbox on different pages?

Can we add a home page chatbox, and then a chatbox in a different section, thats only for that section?

well the forumotion chat would be for all members no matter what section you add it to.

when you say section exactly where would you want it and what forum version are you useing?

i need to know if your have have template editing with punnbb or phpbb2.

or if you are useing invision or phpbb3 because then that changes everything,
but could still have a couple options.

Also sure you would be able to put your forums chat in other places, but it's still going to be the same chat going on regardless where it's placed. so you would have to create another chat useing something like the xat link i provided above.

also how do i do that other chat like xat?

you just go to the xat link and create one, it's easy choose you size colors etc.. or image.. then scroll down the page and select the settings you want. then you just get the code for it and add to your forum..

But if you want this in a different section, you will only be able to do it in a forums description, or you can post a sticky and add the code in the post of the sticky? you can also do sticky and add redirect link for a pop-out chat that would be based on a html page. so they would see a title chat as a sticky. but when they click it it will open a pop-out chat

so that would be your best bet.. but i will have to set an example up on my test forum so you can see what i mean then explain how to do it.

But first you will need to create a axt of your own.. so go ahead over there and do that first, i dont need the code or anything just create it first so i know you have the code to make things easy for when i have to explain how to do it.

Ok i was getting ready to set up the test example for you and ran into a small problem.
But it should not be a big deal.

The problem is that html is not going to work in topic/sticky titles and i thought it did.
Plus i would never be able to fit the whole code because it only allows 255 characteristics max.

But i found another way that will work just as good with a lil trick and sub forum.
But what i need to know. the section where you are going to add this chat, do you have permissions set only for certain groups or members or will all have permissions.

If you want it only for certain people then all you will have to do is set the permissions the same way as you set them for your forums.

So now that i think about it that wont even matter you can decide what to do with that latter... lol my bad.
anyway i did want to bump this so you know i am working on setting up the example and have this topic marked as in progress.

OK over here on my test forum,scroll down and you will see a flashing image that says
(pop-out chat) click on that for the example then reply back here if you want it like that.
it dont have to be an image you can just have text if you want.. or you can always make you own image or i can make one for you.


But all it's going to be is. you place you xat on a html page.
then i will give you a code to place in the sub-forums description, or forum.
I just threw that together real fast on my test forum for an example only.
but thats basically the concept. and considering you are useing phpbb3 you will not have a whole lot of options to have chats in different sections unless you do something like this.
And remember since it is in a forums or sub-forums description you will have the option to set permissions for who can see/use it.

Also do you want just text,or do you want to keep the image i made, or add your own image?

And if you are creating a new sub forum or forum then you can place this code as the name of the forum. Now in you acp you will have this message come up in the forum section of the ACP.

it makes it invisible, the & n s a p ; or whatever it is and it kept giving me a very small dash for some reason, so i just made an transparent image instead

It isn't working mate.

The pop up comes up, but it has a black box as the background (I need that white).

When I click the pop up of chatbox, it links me back to my forum. I added the html link aswell.

if you make a image just right click on the image and save as. you dont need the code they provide. it's better to save then just upload to a image host.
