Video from personal server play inside post

The new message editor interface has a video button--and a box to insert link...i want to link to a video file stored on my own server. I tried, but it wouldn't accept the link i put into that box. Nothing happens.

How do i have that video play inside the post by using this, or can I do that? I don't want to upload the video to youtube or anything else, as it is hosted on my own site and it is my property.

It's in .ram format

anyone have an answer to this? and what about another video in wmv format?
i used

but this doesn't do anything but leave a blank spot in the post where the video should be.
