Building a fan site using forum motion for forum section *HELP WITH DOMAIN*

Hello people,

Basically I'm building a fan forum. I'm going to be building the majority of the site using wordpress just simply coding, however I am using forum motion for the forum section because it is so beautifully easy and great.

Now here is my dilemma, it is going to take me 1-2 months or more to build the rest of the fan site, but I want to launch the forum first to get some activity and such and get some people signed up. Now I've got two questions.

1. If I bought the domain for my forum motion which I want to use for the fan site once its built, would I be able to change it so that the domain goes to the home of the fan site once it is built?

2. Once I have built the fan site and I want to have the forum as a link on the site, how will I be able to do it so that the forum section is /forum. This is the way http://animalcollective.org/community/ do it, so if you can help me out please let me know!

For your redirection question, if you choose your forum to be redirected to your portal or HTML homepage then yes that's possible.

For your second question, if your forum redirects to the portal or an HTML homepage then the forum will have a /forum extension in the URL.

I would just like to confirm about somethings because I'm relatively new to all this.

Basically I am building a fan site using WORDPRESS, there is going to be a news page, a features, and more, and also a FORUM page. Now ideally what I would want is to have the forum embedded into the website, is there a way to do that? the way animal collective do it. And when you go to the forum page which is run by FORUMOTION it says in the url "domainname.com/forum" now you have said this will be possible, will I have to run it through the portal?

And for the first question, I want to launch the forum now before I launch the full WORDPRESS built site, now, I don't know how the forumotion domain works, but once I buy it with the credits, will I be able to remove it from the forum and use it for the full site?

You would need to use an iframe if you want to show the forum on a wordpress theme.
