In progress Html coding help request

Post by ZenCross on August 7th 2011, 4:51 am

Ok for starters I'm adding a html page to my forum that will act as the intro page before you enter. I've figured out the coding for that (I think). Now the question is, instead of putting a enter button I was wondering if It would be possible to put in the login box then hit enter after you put in your account info, if so how would I go about doing this?

Second question I've seen different forums that have side links that are listed as "admin","Moderators" "Links", "Rules" and so on. Is this simply a widget using html or css coding? Or something else?

Here's a forum that has what I'm talking about:

The side links are a forum widget, you can find them under Modules > Forum Widget Management.

Then it's just a matter of creating a new widget and adding in the html you want.

Well if you can post some screen shots, links or ideas of what you are trying to get we can then better help. I am actually trying to work on a whole section dedicated solely to html pages and development, but it is still in the discussions process, however just explain and provide as much as possible of what it is you want to do and we'll take it from there.

oh i was waondering what you was asking in aother post.
the background is green up there because someone has thanked him, when you hit the tank button to thank someone it turns it green to show they were thanked Smile Smile

Sure thing, I'm new to all this coding business, I've managed to figure out the whole intro page thing.

(Check it out) Z-Realm Homepage the coding wasn't difficult at all. Hell I spent most of my time working on the design itself. Now I'm going to add some background music. :wouhou:

I'm still hanging on the idea of attempting to put in a login instead of the enter button. As you can see I made a enter button, but what I would like to do is give the members the ability to login in at the homepage and have it redirect them to the portal after that. Then slap a register button for those who want to sign up. something along those lines. I'll try to post up some images of what I'm talking about.

As for the widgets I'm making that my next project.

Update: Can anyone tell me were I can upload and store music, so I can use it in a html code.

For music i use pod bean,
You just create a new account and they give you up to 35 mb for free.
Which is fine if you are just adding a little bit of background music here and there.

then what you do is adjust the dimensions in the embed code 1x1 or 0x0 to make it invisible, unless you want to see the player.. but is easy to do, if you have any problems just post the code and i will adjust for you.

Other then that you can also find just about any song/music you are looking for here for free.
You just have to go through a few of them and find one that will start auto play mp3R
so you just put in the captcha, agree to the terms then you can search what ever music you are looking for, and is all free for use.But like i said you have to test them fisrt to make sure you find one that will autoplay.

then another thing i have been doing lately is uploading mp3 to my flash banner maker, i make a small invisible banner and add the background mp3, save into flash file then upload to a flash host and create the code.. but thats another thing, i would have to give you an example of that so you know what i mean.

Alright then, I'll give the pod bean a try here in a few. For now I'm just adding music to the homepage I've got set. So this should work fine.

Your second suggest is quiet interesting as well. thumleft

Update: eeeeeh, ok so the pod bean site worked wonders I used it along with ( Ricocheting ) another site to get want I needed . Now I've run into the issue of when I place the code into what I have now and go to preview it I get a about:blank instated of my original homepage.

Here's the codding I'm using so far.

well you dont even need to use that html music generator.
i never even heard of that.. i will have to see what it's all about.

i am not sure what is supposed to be on your html page.
all i am getting is a rather large image that has been removed or deleted by photobucket, the music is playing.

oh ok i see you had links in the images and the images are just gone.

anyway all should be an easy fix, i just need to see the images and how you want it set up..i will give you a proper webpage code with the apropraite tables etc... you need in there.

or check this out.. this is great for beginners that want to design there own web/html pages.. and i still use it all the time for simple table creations.

And the best part it's free, it's kind of like a free version of dreamweaver However dreamweaver is way advanced compared to this. but dreamweaver cost a fortune

So this is the next best thing, for free, and can still create professional style html/web pages

http://kompozer.net/

other then that just let me know and will help with what i can to get fixed up Smile

Once again awesome dude, I appreciate all the help here.

I've tried the program you've suggested and it's really nice. I went ahead and try to troubleshoot the coding myself using it. I did a test run and everything worked fine, now I just need to transfer it over to the site sadly I'm still getting a about:blank. I'm using Google Chrome, if that has anything to do with it.

I'm posting up what I have so far and the images:

About this, it's a security feature in chrome, you can't execute source code if it's found within request ( so if you've got a script in your html page you will get an about:blank if you preview ), search "Refused to execute a JavaScript script. Source code of script found within request." for more info.
