insert embed long links, too wide Empty insert embed long links, too wide

Okay, i've looked for a long time with all types of search terms and can't find this:

i want members to be able to insert an long link address without it extending a mile across the page...it totally screws up the layout.

why can't we just use the insert link command and it embed it? i tried that several ways and it still shows as the entire raw link. Why can't i find info on this? When i highlight in my other wysiwyg programs and then insert the link, it shows shows the linked text, not the entire raw url. How do i do this and have members do this?

You can use this code:
Code:
[url=insert link here]Insert name to appear here[/url]
Here is an example Click Here This is the code for the example I made
Code:
[url=http://www.google.com]Click Here[/url]

This way you can make the links shorter

thank you so much--i'll use that. but i doubt my members will. i thought that was what the insert link button was supposed to do automatically? no?

Well yes but you can do it manually as well. I never really used the insert link button, I just used this code.

with as much busy work as i do, i try to avoid manual whenever possible; LOL.
but really, when i did use the button to add the link it still didn't embed it, it placed the entire url on the post....so maybe i'm doing something wrong in that regard...?

Try the exact code that I showed you above and it should work.
