Re: menu edit
as mentioned by hanzboyz
if you don't want an image displayed, then leave the url field blank. Follow all other instructions in the Tut.
you can place this "Variable" in your site description, homepage message or a widget, depending on where you want members name displayed. In addition...By clicking on the users name, it will direct you to their profile.

Re: menu edit
Did you even read the this tutorial : https://help.forumotion.com/t35094-the-navigation-bar ? It explains clearly how to do it. Outside of doing it for you, there's not more we can do.Respect_Me wrote:how ? i dont understand.

Re: menu edit
Forget about the part of submitting the image url. Just "pretend" it's not even there. Now do everything else in the TUT.Respect_Me wrote:My friend this TUTORIAL CONTAINS images.
I dont want images.

Re: menu edit
how about you find someone to be admin of your forum too, so he will help you to manage this..
Re: menu edit
If you just what the username without the link use this code:
You can not edit the text in the menu only the images.
- Spoiler:
- {U S E R N AM E} without spaces.
You can not edit the text in the menu only the images.
Re: menu edit
This is an English forum, yet it's pretty obvious that a few of the people responding in this topic don't speak English, or speak it poorly.
That tutorial is WORTHLESS for what the OP wants. They have a text-based navbar and want to change the text in the navbar links. The tutorial does the exact opposite -- remove the text! Plus, there is no possible way to create image-based links for the PM and Logout buttons using the text they want to add.
So here's an answer to the original question. You need javascript to change the text in the navbar links to what you want, and that is true for whatever board type you have. If you do a search, you'll come up with examples I've written to change the link text to what you want.

Re: menu edit
@Dion Shame on you .we're all merely trying to help.
Outside of tallying the "New Message" count,
the Tut is very useful in creating New Nav links which can be named whatever we wish to name them. We don't have to utilize the Nav Links (home,portal,log-in,ect) provided via template. I felt creating new links was a better direction to take, thus allowing him the option of who can view link(s).
I have sent a PM that went unanswered ;otherwise this would have been solved for the most part.

Re: menu edit
Since it seems he probably wants to achieve it on the current navigation bar & without using images this should help.
1. To change your Forum >> Home you can use this
https://help.forumotion.com/t91158-edit-nav-links#587681
Change the i_icon_mini_portal in the script to i_icon_mini_index, put it in your Admin panel > Modules > Javascript codes management and mark all pages.
2. To change You have no messages >> New messages 0 you can use this, put it in your Admin panel > Modules > Javascript codes management and mark all pages.
https://help.forumotion.com/t95335-edit-navigation-bar-names#614882
Change the word "Inbox" in the script to "New messages 0".
No need for tensions, everybody is helping in their own way.
