how about removing @ symbol in chatbox for the moderators.?

When they have this symbol means that when the moderator is nobody mod automatically enters not know if you can do so.

Of course its possible, however it depends on how your chatbox is displayed on the page? Because if it isn't displayed then its not easy to access.

If you put your chatbox in an iframe, and give the iframe a name, its easy to access through javascript.

Yes have your chatbox displayed as an iframe somewhere.

Once you have installed that... let me know, and i can get rid of/change @ for you.
