How to use the templates?

Post by Typlo on Tue Nov 03, 2009 3:53 am

The templates

Through the modifications of your forum templates, you can modify the structure of your forum, create extra effects, or add things that couldn't be done without these modifications. This list is obviously not exhaustive, but modifying the templates gives you so many possibilities - you are only held back by your imagination.

Careful!
Modifying the templates requires a basic knowledge of HTML and template editing.
Moreover, you must be the founder and use phpBB2 or PunBB only to modify the templates.

Where do I edit the Templates?

Admin Panel> Templates

The templates are subdivided in 8 sections :

    Description of each sections

    Modifying a template

Before you edit a template, stop and think about easier methods of achieving the same effect: CSS, Javascript etc...

To modify a template, click on .
Once edited and saved, you can see :
template_name

Description

default Value

Waiting

Click on to check what your modifications will look like.

Click on to publish the template.
In this case, this template will now be visible like :
template_name

Description

Default Value

Published

Click on to delete your modifications and to restore the default settings. You should now see this:
template_name

Description

Default Value

..........

If you went wrong and want to start again, click on "Default Value" to start again with the default settings

Note :
The two versions of PhpBB2 and PunBB templates are completely independent and don't interact between them. If you have personalized your templates on a version and want to change it to another, you'll get the default templates of this other version and you'll be free to modify them. If finally you want to come back to the first version, you'll get back your personalized templates you left.

Actually "Tips Tuesday" is fine as it is. Its like an office celebrating "Casual Friday", or theme park hosting "Manic Monday". (just pointing that out Wink )

Hi,

is anyone interested to help me because I am not so skill in html and CSS coding?

I want to modify the Recent Topics template. It currently appears by the following way on my forum:

Recent Topics
»
Topic name

»
Link to another topic

And now I want to put, under the topic's name, the date it was posted and the topic poster, for example:

Recent Topics

Is it possible to modify? You can see how does that widget looks like by visiting my forum at
http://superforum-apatin.bigforumpro.com

P.S. Excuse me for my English! Smile
