1- the sub domain remains yours until you change it, or delete the forum. If your talking about a full (Top level domain), you can only have 1 domain per forum at any one time. So yes, if you want to, you can renew it, IF it expires before the 1.1.12, otherwise, its one domain, the current one, or the other one. Your call.

2- Yes, its the exact same as purchasing it, but without having to pay for it. A full TLD without paying for it
3- You must have sent the request by the 1.1.12, it can be approved after the 1st.
4- No, once you sent it, their gone
ForuMotion has a strict no refunds policy
