apple-touch-icon for i phone

when viewing your forum from an i-phone
if you wish to add the page link to your homescreen,
then it will automaticaly make a screenshot of the whole page
for the icon shown on the i-phones homescreen link.
this looks untidy to me

if you make a custom icon for your forum
make it 60x60 .png and upload it to servimg
save the url of the icon image


then goto your forum's admin panel
Modules - Forum widgets management

scroll down to the bottom and click the "Create a widget" button

Widget name : apple-touch-icon
Use a table type : no
Widget title : apple-touch-icon

Widget source * : <link rel="apple-touch-icon" href="yourimgURL.png"/>
replace the red with the url (http://) of your image

click save and return to - Forum widgets management

make sure you have widgets enabled for your forum

Forum widgets general options
Display forum widgets : yes

scroll down to the bottom and click on the "Personal widgets" tab

drag your new widget into your forums widget panel

click save


then when people bookmark / link your forum page to the homescreen on their i-phone,
they will see your nice little icon instead of a screenshot of your full page.

@mod if i did something wrong here or posted in the wrong section please let me know,
maybe you will delete this and make a more clear guide for this
or maybe you will add this as a feature in the picture management
so that people can just upload an image in there

well make the icon for your site square 60x60 pixel's save it as a PNG
goto your forums admin panel

display - Pics management - Advanced Mode
click a button to upload it to servimg and when the upload is complete it will give you the img url
(https://i.servimg.com/yourimage.png)
save that and add it to the link code where i marked red in the topic above

i think you might be able to upload your icon to photo bucket or something it should still work i guess

down the right hand side there are loads of buttons that say "Upload a picture"
just click one of them, it will bring up the servimg upload box
like next to your "Forum main logo :" ->
you can use this button to upload the img without saving it as the forum main logo

hello , im back , bit fuzzy but determined to sort this , got the icone uploaded and so on but stuck on this bit now ..

drag your new widget into your forums widget panel

not sure if what im dragging to where , the blue rectangle wont drag and if it did i don't know where the put it

Display forum widgets : Yes
Width column 1 (left) : 180
pixelsMinimum width : 180 pixels, 0 to hide the column.
Width column 3 (right) : 0
pixelsMinimum width : 180 pixels, 0 to hide the column

set it to display the widgets (Yes)
then you see the 3 column's with the centre one being the forums
the widget will not show on your forum if you followed my steps right
but you can set a column to 0 pixels to hide it and put the widget into there

when you have made the widget
it should drag but if yours does not then try to do it in a different web brouser
