changing the founder and stayin on as normal member

Is there a way that I (current founder) can stay on on the forum after I have changed the creator's email to another person?

Where it says 'Direct connection to the admin panel' can I fill in my username and make sure that way that I can stay on using my own username. What password is required there (the same one as the one I use to get into utilities?

Once I have made myself a normal admin I can then continue to change the creation email and give my friend the forum while I can stay on using my own username.

Or is that not possible and do I need to register a new account once I change the creation email to my friend's email?

Ok, so I'm assuming your asking to give your friend the founder status while keeping your account..

Your posts and such cannot be switched to a new profile, so therefore it's impossible.

What it is I want to do is changing role, become an administrator - so that I don't lose my account/username - before I change the founder/creator's email.

Then I can ask the new founder to remove my admin status and I am a normal member.

I give my friend the password. Does he use this password to get into the forum? or to get to the utilities area? Can he still use his old account. Does he become me (my username) and does he then need to change the name in 'my profile'?

What you've described appears to be correct. The password you give to your friend allows him to access the account and the utilities.

The new founder, in this case your friend, takes over the founder account. You won't be able to access it any more since they will have changed the password and email. If you wish to stay on your forum, just simply create a new account on the forum.

Thanks. I understand it now. It's a shame that all my old posts all 9000 of them from the beginning of the forum become his now. But I understand there is no other way. Thread can be closed now thanks.

As I told you by PM, the forum and its founder are linked. There is no way to create another one founder's account or remove it.
The only solution is to replace your informations with his informations and give him access to your old account, don't forget to delete all the PM or posts that you don't want him to keep.
