Solved IP info for newly registered users

Post by sugarcandy April 29th 2012, 3:20 pm

One thing I've noticed is, when a new user registers, their IP info isn't shown in the ACP along with their user name and email. Is there any reason for this? I run another forum, (zetaboards) and the IP info of every newly registered user is shown when they register. This is really useful if a previously banned member tries to register again. Is there any way the IP info can be shown? Thanks. Very Happy

Hi, unfortunately there is no way to see a newly registered user's IP address. The only way to obtain someone's IP if:

=> They are online and you check who's online in the admin panel
=> They have made a post on your forum and you press the IP button

I don't know what you mean?

I'm talking about being able to see the IP's of newly registered users when they appear in the ACP. This doesn't appear to be an option with forumotion which is a shame because it's handy to have.

The only way to see a member's IP is what Base posted above:

Well that's a shame. Isn't is something that forummotion could consider adding at some time? Thanks anyway.

It's also a security feature I must say, let's say a member just chooses to view the hidden forums/content and doesn't want to post for his/her IP to be remain hidden which sometimes IP address are sources of hacking issues once they are seen by a hacker.

You can suggest it though, be sure to search first as the same suggestion exists already Wink

    Solved?
