Help for HTML Codes Empty Help for HTML Codes

Post by Bexz June 3rd 2012, 11:09 am

First of all, i don't know much about HTML. So, maybe i post this in right place.

My request it's very simple, just like forumotion have. If im click BOLD in forumotion, it will appear like this:

    Code:
    [B][/B]
Right? and thats position isn't it the last

But in my forum, when i click BOLD it appears like this:

    Code:
    [B]
and the postition of the code is at the bottom. Not in the pointer that i click. i want have like forumotion have. because it more simple, helpfully and not confusing at all bwi

Sorry if i post this in the wrong place

If you click the 'Bold' button only [B*] will appear. When you do this you must then write the text you want bolded and then you click the 'Bold Button' again which will put the ending tag after the bolded word.

The [B*] command and the [/B*] command will both appear if you highlight and select a word you want bolded.

Oh yea i know that for sure...

I mean like this, if im click 'Bold' Button its only appear [B*] Once then i must click it again the bold button again. But in here, if im click 'Bold Button' it will appears [B*] and [/B*] in the same time

I understand. Did you write some text already and then go back to the word you wanted bold when you had finished writing your post?

Sorry if i make you confusing with my terrible english Sad

For Example, i want bold these letters: AAAABBBCCCDD. before i bold those letters, i click 'Bold' button first right? and after i click 'Bold' button, it will appears like this:
    Code:
    [B]AAAABBBCCCDD[/B]
    it happen in here

in my forum, click the bold button > write the letters > click the bold button again

and the other problem is, why if i click the code it appears in the end of the message. Not at the point what im point at. For example, i write this words first: Liverpool. then i point my mouse before the "Liverpool" words. After that i click 'Bold' button. It appears like this
    Code:
    Liverpool[B]

I see what you mean. In that case I suggest 'highlighting' or selecting the text you want bolded and then click the Bold button ONCE. This should do the trick.

Yes I know but I think that's an issue with your forum. I suggest waiting for a more experienced member or staff to read this and help you.

It does that in this forum, because they have a javascripts installed for improving the editor. There's a similar tutorial here: http://www.avacweb.com/t193-fixing-the-forumotion-text-editor

Have you tried enabling WYSIWYG mode? It makes it a lot easier to use things like bold and italics without having to worry about remembering tags.

The wysiwyg comes with its own amount of problems though.

You need to put the code in a JS file. Im sure if you read through the topic everything is explained.

It ain't my codes if you look at the thread. And if you look in post 8, the author actually redirects you to another topic where he's shared the updated code. You may also need Selix API, I'm not sure if the author has included it or not.
