Password protected forum section

Hi

We have a metal detecting forum and are setting up a group meeting to metal detect,
we want to have it so only attending forum members can view that section.
We are wanting to know if we are able to set up a separate section within our forum
that could have password entry only for attending members to the meeting and our Admin could issue the
entry password to those members only.

Is this possible to be set up on forumotion forums ??

Protect a section with a password is a very bad idea.

Why? Because someone who have that password could give it to another person that is not supposed to have it, and he will see the protected content.

So, I would recomend you to set groups, so you can make a section only visible for users wich are in a particular group.

Could you perhaps tell me how i would go about doing that, would i make a new group and then add each member as they intend to go on our forum meeting. ??

Invisible - Thanks for your suggestion, i think it would work for our reason, but may be a bit technical for our Admin to arrange, but if its the only way
to solve our needs then it must be so.

Sir Chivas - We merely want to create a new forum section that is password locked so that the Admin can give that special password to certain existing members only for viewing and posting in that new section.

Sorry if i may have confused the question.

There isn't really a way to do that. You can maybe create a group for does special members. Restrict the members from able to view the forum. Read more here: https://help.forumotion.com/t38399-restricted-forums
