Can portal be hidden from guests?
As the title says. Can you hide the portal from guests? Maybe have the register or login option appear?

No I am sorry you can't. The portal will appear to guests.

Ok, thanks for the reply. I think it would be better hidden personally.

Re: Can portal be hidden from guests?
I agree, what's the point of making anything hidden to guests if they can view it all from the portal page?

Re: Can portal be hidden from guests?
than dont allow that stuff to be viewed on the portal page, lol
like under t he recent topics, if you have the topic section set to members only can view and not guests, t han on the portal guests cant see them.. pretty much whatever you got set on the forums that guests cant view, on the portal they cant either

Re: Can portal be hidden from guests?
See, I'm confused... everything on my forum is locked to guests... meaning they can't even view it... but when I logged out and checked it just to be sure, everything was available on the portal.
I like the portal, but because of this, I took it off. Am I just missing something?

Re: Can portal be hidden from guests?
No you are not missing anything. I too have my forums locked from guests. And I do not use the portal because it is available to guests.
What tyhodge was explaining was that you can decide what you have shown on your portal page. But if you are hiding all of your forum to the guest, then there isn't much you could put on the portal then, because it would be available to the guest.
That is why I do not have my portal activated.

What is the point of the portal then?? It seems really pointless but has some decent features that would be better on the forum.

Re: Can portal be hidden from guests?
skittles, may i ask to what module you are refering to? i also have my portal activated and for example in the recent-topics module all guest-hidden threads are definately not shown when i log out - it just works perfectly fine for me...
@OT: it will, of course, show all direct links that you entered manually for example in custom blocks....

Re: Can portal be hidden from guests?
I am using Onyx currently but changing here very soon. As well as a phpbb3 theme on my other forum. But I don't have the portal activated on either forums, just for this reason.
I gave my answer in reference to what I read in regards to this, when I first came to this board wondering the same thing, as I have a private forum. I tried to find the thread I read about it, but can't seem to find it now. I might have read it directly from the makers of phpbb but can't be sure where now.
