Existing and new forum.

Hi fellas, hopefully I have posted this in the right area. Can anyone help?

We already have a successful forum but it's pretty basic and we want to update it and refresh it by adding stuff etc. but we're all novices at creating these sort of things. - I have started to create a new forum to practice with but it's shaping out nicely.

So my question is, once the new forum has been created, is it possible to move it to the present forum url so that the users and their previous posted messages, threads etc. are then saved to the new forum or am I wasting my time by creating a new forum?
