HTML pages allow you to create custom pages on your site using HTML. On one website I work with, we even created a homepage entirely with HTML, instead of using the built in portal.
Javascript codes were added not too long ago to forumotion to allow users to host any of their custom javascript codes through forumotion, instead of going through the pain of hosting them externally. (Javascript is a web scripting language where the scripts run on your own web browser. It is useful for a whole range of things, from nice tabs to new color pickers. )
