Restricting Gallery Image Size

I think there is a problem, either with the way I am understanding it, or the way the restrictions on the gallery images are being handled. Are those meant to just show up when users upload pictures? Or are those supposed to actually stop an upload that breaks those requirements? I have my sizes restricted to 640 px on each side and 120 KB in size. However, I can easily upload a 3008 X 2008 pixel image at 2 MB and I'm never told that I can't do this. Is this a bug, or am I just misunderstanding the role of those settings? I do have it so all images have to be approved by me first, so I can easily delete the ones that are too big, but it would be nice if the user could be stopped in the beginning from uploading something too big.

i am not sure to be honest, i have noticed the same thing. I will ask an admin for feedback, but please try to be patient as i will need one to come online to read the pm

Yes, is there another place to do it?

So is this a bug, or are those settings just so they can be displayed as people are uploading, hoping that they don't go over the maximum values?

So did we ever decide if the limits are supposed to actually restrict at upload time, or if they are just there as information to the people when they upload pictures?
