Solved Is in-game gambling (Lotteries) allowed?

Post by Jezzda May 8th 2013, 10:02 am

"Is in-game gambling (Lotteries) allowed?" As I asked, I'd like to know because then I could add in-game lotteries for my players so they can gamble with their currency in the game and have a chance at winning more, well you know the concept, is this or is this not allowed? Since it is gambling and I'm not sure if it goes against the Terms of Service, so I thought I'd ask, better to ask then to go ahead with it and get into trouble.

Do you mean setting up a game using the points system on your forum?

I think this is allowed as I've seen members on many other forums doing lotteries to win points to spend on stuff within a forum.

As long as you aren't soliciting real money from forum members then I don't think it would be any kind of an issue.

Many people use an "in forum" currency to make things like shops etc.

Hello,

I'm not sure as well, as I don't know about the legalities of this, example, in some countries this is allowed, but in some it's not, well you can have such as long as real money is not involved as Derri mentioned above, also, as long as 'fraud' is not involved.

It would only be in-game currency (The currency used for my members roleplay) The currency would be used in shops, in markets and so on as well as lotteries so they have a chance to get more money. Thank you for your answers, I believe the end result is you can create lotteries on your forum as long as you don't steal their money and as long as you don't involve any real currency of any kind. Understood.
