    Solved Can't access password change.

Post by TheTower May 24th 2013, 3:57 am

Hello I have a serious issue in regards to one of my old forums. The forum has over one-hundred members and I wanted to sign back in as the Admin but am unable to do so. My issue is that I am the only individual with Admin rights on this forum and when I tried to recover my password it said this: The security 'Disallow admin to send new password' is active in Admin Panel > General Admin > Security The thing is I had never set that up as the administrator and it is the ONLY way to get my Admin account back on the forum I run. Please help me because I desperately want to get my forum back up and running.

Here is the link to the forum that I run: http://narutoverserpg.forumotion.com

So I am not having any luck unfortunately, see my younger brother (the original creator of the site) does not remember the email he used before I had changed the Admin's email when he gave me his site. Is it possible for a member of the staff to access the administration panel on the site I own and set it so that the password change for the administrator is not restricted or is that asking too much? Because I do know that the email I had given is the accurate one for the Admin as it popped the message: "The security 'Disallow admin to send new password' is active in Admin Panel > General Admin > Security". Instead of: "The e-mail address you supplied does not match the one listed for that username" if you have the incorrect email.

You will need to list all the emails that could have been used. Send the list by private message.

Not to place anyone in a hurry or sound rude as I know how busy the staff of Forumotion must be with all the other questions but I would like to simply put it out their that I have not received a private message for about twenty-four hours now and would really like to see whether or not I will be able to access my forum. Thanks.

    Hello,

It usually takes 24-48 hours due to a lot of requests that we receive via PM, I suggest you to regularly check your e-mail, to see the new founder password for your forum. Wink

Post by TheTower May 27th 2013, 7:45 pm

Alright my apologies, it is just that I am frustrated with the fact that I changed the email and password after my brother gave me the site and I can't even remember the password I created nor recover it. It is like my past self spitting in my present self's face... Confused
Anyways, should I send the potential three passwords via private message to an staff? Because Sanket responded to something that I had said before I posted the three potential new emails to SLGray for the creation email and when I tried to send him a private message pertaining to the emails that I had private messaged to SLGray it had said that I was not allowed to post external links or emails for seven days. Also if it is permitted, would a member of the staff be able to access the administration panel on the site I own and turn the security to disallow the admin to send a new password off? Because if so I could use the current admin email and recover my password; problem solved.

Would you require just a regular account or do you need one that has administration rights? Also, do you know is this automated admin password recovery restriction occurred after an update to Forums associated with Forumotion? Reason behind me asking is because I am about seventy-five percent positive that I was able to automatically access password recovery a year ago as this is the first time I have ever had that issue as I can recall.

Trust me SLGray if I knew anyone that had administration rights to my forum that would have been the first thing I'd of done. I have faced similar issues in the past with other forums I ran but never have I been faced with an unresolvable issue like this. At this rate I think my only hope would be if an update comes by that automates it so administrators can change their password and have to access the administration panel to turn password change off themselves. Either that or hopefully one of the three emails I gave you are the creation email for the forum but Sanket still has yet to get back to me on that via private message.

The emails you send me via SLGray, do not match the creation email. In the future, if you have sent me a PM, just follow it up with me instead of PM''ing another staff member as it gets confusing for me to link it up to any previous PM's i received.

Alright I shall remember that and thank you for helping me. Unfortunately it looks at this rate that this issue will remain unsolved which is a major downer since I would have been able to change my password if the password lock for the admin was not automated to be turned on as I do in-fact have the correct email for the head admin account I just do not have the creation email to get a password change.
