    Solved Forum HTML Homepage

    Post by Anonymous46790 May 25th 2013, 3:36 am

Hey, I am in the midst of planning out a HTML page for the homepage of my forum and I was curious as to whether or not there is a way to put any forum widgets onto it? IS this possible given that forumotions HTML construction pages dont allow you to add CSS. I would like to have my own full HTML page with some of the forums widgets that are present on my portal like recent topics scrolling on the side of it. Any help is appreciated Very Happy

When creating a HTML page under Administration Panel -> Modules -> HTML & JavaScript -> HTML pages management -> Create a new HTML page, select "Use the forum header and footer" with Yes, that'd include all CSS and widgets automatically.

Otherwise, you'd have to either import or refer to the CSS via @import (CSS import method) or <link> HTML tags.
Widgets you would have to code into the page, too, if you don't want to use the forum as header.

Keep in mind that you need to insert a link to forumotion in your HTML pages which you set as homepage.

OK, I made a mok up of what I want to do, the nav bar buttons will just be linked images. Could you just let me know if this is possible and how I should go about doing it?

Basically, yes, such a homepage would be possible, but you'd have to, well, it's a bit hard to code widgets into a surrounding that's not given native support by forumotion (if you've decided to use a custom header, that is).

If you use the default forumotion header however, with a 'bit' of JavaScript and CSS I do think it'd be possible; actually, I'm quite sure it'd be possible if one had sufficient knowledge about this.

    Hi,

You'll have to use the header and footer since you can't add widgets to the HTML page itself.

You could theoretically totally re-arrange your site with jQuery, if you want to do so.

You'd still have to use the forum header, but generally, it'd be possible, yes.

If it's a homepage can you not just use the portal? You can use widgets on that.
