Hi if i have you right you want to have say a part of a forum where say it can be seen by the members but can not post in it with out you adding them to it ?

Is so then there is a way

Make the forum make a hidden group and then add your members to that set it to only them members can post

    This is how it's done.

ACP >> Users & Groups Tab >>  group permissions. Groupes Groups >> Group Administration >>
Create new Group  >> Group name : What ever you wish >> Group Moderator : your admin name >> Group status : Hidden group >> Permission to send PM Mailings : Usergroups or what ever you wish >> Group auto-subscribe : if you want the members to be put in after say 20 posts then change this if you want to add them your self then leave this as NO  >> SAVE

Now to add your settings >> Click on Perms  and set the Permissions Control ..

    Hope that helps

so im on the right track then , thank you. so here's my next question. i can change the permissions , only able to check the moderator section. or is that just because im moderator and have to add a memeber. what im after is this lol gets a little tricky. the forum is for older mature gamers... and there is some people that are not quiet the age limit. so i was going to drop the age limit and make a group called boot camp. at the same time i want to limit parts the can write in on the forum... i hope this helps explain it lol

okay so you will have to add each member to that Group in that age limit as they can not be added automatically.

first of all you need to make the boot camp then set the permissions to that group you just made. then only that set group will see the forum and post in it when you add them or you can set it to the members can see it but not post and they can ask the mod of that forum to add them  that will then be set to an open group in the settings i gave up at first.

    EDIT:

How to see your boot camp when you have done your Group settings:

When you have made your Group go to
ACP >> General Tab >>  group permissions. Configuration Forum >> Categories and forums >> click >> Add  make your forum and set the permissions to that group you just made to get a better set of permissions click Advanced Mode at the bottom that will give ya more settings to pick from

ok so i did that. but the group boot can write in any part of the forum. i wanted to limit them from post in sections . but im now thinking to do so i would have to make a group for members, because to change the write permissions for boot i would have to uncheck members in the permissions. dose that sound right. thank you for your help Smile

id like to be able to uncheck them from topics but it wount let me unless i uncheck all members
