Can't edit templates due to issues. Empty Can't edit templates due to issues.

    Hey,

When I got into my templates I click the modify button and I get several issues trying to modify them. For example where I click the cursor decides to appear 6/7 lines down the page and sometimes I get no cursor and can only highlight things. I am not using Adblocker as I disabled that yesterday and only had it installed for 24 hours.

Not that running Ad block should cause an issue considering it's been out for a long time.

I encountered the same problem yesterday. I have AdBlock installed on Chrome, but I disabled it for most Forumotion forums this morning. It works properly on any other browser (Firefox, etc.). :o

Pretty much having the same problem here but for CSS editing, not templates: https://help.forumotion.com/t129883-problem-selecting-editing-css

I am also on Chrome and don't have any add blockers installed. And like you mentioned it works fine in firefox so been able to work from there for now but... Well I just prefer chrome so it would be nice if a solution was found.

Well from what I can tell others are experiencing the issue, some using Ad Block and some not so I think it must be Google Chrome. However I can't tell if the issue relies with Google Chrome or FM.

I believe Chrome might be having trouble with handling the codemirror. You're editing the code within a div element, while the default textarea is hidden. Considering what you're saying there is ZERO editability, correct ? ( it acts like a regular element and not like a textarea )

Disabling javascript should show the default textarea which you should be able to edit the code in, but I wouldn't recommend doing that each time.

No. You can still edit it however it is just a bit of a hassle because you have to navigate through the template, or in my case CSS, using the arrow keys on the keyboard rather than scrolling though and clicking in where you would like. And when you do click text area the cursor will appear some 7 (in Derri's case) to 30 (in my case) lines away from where you originally clicked. And there are issues with copying and pasting so everything has to be typed out or deleted manually. No short cuts. At least in my case. All in all its just a bit of a hassle and rather troublesome.

I just tried that and it does work, again this is just in my case. Though it would be nice if a better solution came up so we wouldn't have to do this each time... Any ideas why this problem is manifesting now all of a sudden?

I have to admit I wouldn't be all too thrilled about disabling my forums Javascript every time I needed to change something in my templates/CSS because my forum version is PunBB which obviously is template focused with editing involved on a semi-regular basis.

I have the same question: I wonder why this has happened all of a sudden.

I am not sure since I do not use Chrome. Did they release any new updates ?

Well it sounds like there is problems with the cursor and selection functions in the codemirror then, for Chrome at least.

Zero editablity is not quite true. You can actually edit it, but it's difficult. If you scroll down on either the template or CSS-stylesheet page (not the editor itself), the first line is usually highlighted. If you click on the first line highlighted, the cursor will skip a few lines and stay at like line 6 or 7. If you scroll within the editor, you will not be able to click or highlight any line with the cursor. If you scroll back to the top within the editor and on the template / CSS page, you can click the first line normally.
That is what's happening to me at the moment. But using the arrow keys all the time is annoying haha. ^^"

I agree with Derri. I wouldn't be thrilled about disabling JS either.
I mean... editing CSS & templates worked perfectly fine up to like yesterday, so . :o

EDIT: I just checked and Google released an update for Chrome on January 14th for Windows & Linux users.

Yes chrome actually was updated recently... I don't usually notice the updates but only noticed this one because it changed the scroll bars and I remember really liking that. Still do.

So it seems there is really no permanent solution for the time being... Just the temporary fix with disabling Javascript... :/
Hopefully that can get fixed sometime soon though either on chromes end or something with forumotion to make things run smoothly again...

    Yes I agree,

I just updated my applications today and noticed the changes. Hopefully a fix is found sometime soon either by Chrome or FM.

I don't mind disabling Javascript when my forum is under maintenance like it is right now but this will be very problematic when I actually launch my forum.
