@Caihlem is correct.  You need to start a topic in the correct section if you have issues with a tutorial.  There is no need to contact the authors of the tutorials.  Also there is no support through private message, except for password resets.

Okay, guys. That all sounds fair and logical. As you guys probably guessed I'm pretty new to these waters and am, at times, rather lazy. Everything I did seemed good natured to me and I didn't think there was any possible way for me to rub anybody the wrong way. Obviously I was proven wrong. Hopefully Caihlem doesn't hold it against me too, too much.

    A) I thought it said in Caihlem's tutorial that members were free to PM him if they needed further help. I followed his steps and still could not wrap my head around why things looked the way that they did on the forum you all helped me create.
    B) I could have sworn when I attempted to PM Caihlem his profile said he was a female. Honest mistake on my part, I guess, although I'm unsure of as to why he took any level of offense to this mistake when he means no offense to "the fairer sex." If it's fair to him he may now call me a girl whenever he wants, although I can see where that might get confusing at some point in time because I am a male.

Again, I'd like to stress how I do not mean to offend anyone by saying what I've said in the above post and I appreciate everything you all have done to make it SO easy for me to create a forum for myself and others which is important to me (and hopefully others). So thanks again.

Since some tutorials are from former staff members, it would be best to private message a current staff member.

Caihlem flew under my radar in that he appeared to be a current staff member (to me) which is why I assumed when he said it was okay to PM him concerning my "locked" forum I saw no problem in creating a topic and notifying him of its whereabouts. I will admit, I was looking for a timely response to the issue. I had no idea I'd get two staff members to respond and a former staff member to complain about my behavior within the day.

Moving forward I will attempt to be more cautious in where and when I ask for help.

Why can't forum trial reviewers and reviewers be merged into one group? And just change the color of tr's to dark green, then once their trial is done change the color to reviewer color?

Kratos, they cant be merged, because trial reviewers arent actual official reviewers yet, not official staff yet, just potential staff in training. If it were merged, then trial reviewers would be able to moderate stuff just like official reviewers, to merge them would defeat the entire purpose of having a trial reviewers group in the first place. Sad

This is more of a subjective question, but what do you guys think is the best way to learn coding? Looking at some tutorials, getting taught, etc? Is there anything you recommend?

I never had a mentor, so I'd say the best way to learn is a hands on approach ; Study tutorials, then experiment. If you get stuck or run into a problem Mr. Google is always a second away to answer your questions. You shouldn't be afraid to make mistakes, because without making mistakes you'll never learn anything ; Failing is the first step towards learning, remember that. Wink

You can find a collection of tutorial websites in the following topic. I visited a majority of them when I was studying web development. Just take it at your own pace and study one language at a time. Lastly, one other thing you should remember is that you can learn anything, so long as you have the time to dedicate to whatever it is you're learning. Smile

What Ange says is really important. If you want to learn, you need to experiment and don't be afraid to make mistakes. Try them and if they don't work then fix them by looking at your mistake and go "Aaaaahhh yes that was the mistake!". That way you learn and eventually you won't make the same mistake again or if you do (like me) you'll remember the solution. Coding is something that takes time and a lot effort to learn. It's not something to say you can learn in a day or two. Everyday you learn.. Wink

You can experiment anywhere, but a test forum is usually the best since the effects of your mistakes would be much less damaging. Wink

English 100% , Spanish 5% (I know the basics plus a couple other words but I am not fluent at all Razz), American ASL (Sign Language), 10 to 15 maybe 20 % (I learned a little bit a year or two ago, but I havent practiced much since then, so I am rusty big time, I am sure if I started learning and practicing again I could sign much more again and then, with some practice, I could probably get this to 30, 35, 40 or maybe 45 or 50% if I practiced enough).
