Help: New Member Registration Being Blocked by System

So, today, a friend was trying to register on my site (from my pc) and every time we try to register an account it keeps sending a strange message that says, This Name Is Already Taken. 

Now, The problem is that I have been reorganizing the site, so I am absolutely the only actual registered user on the site, so that is definitely, not possible at all.

And then she picked a different name, but Every Single name she chose we got the same ‘This Name Is Not Available or Already taken..” What is going on? Please help, all this time I’ve been trying to figure out why there was no registration, and the system has been blocking All attempts to register.


I double checked the admin panel to make sure it was set to Allow New Members, so that is not the problem. What can be done about this?

Try disabling this feature :
Administration panel > general > security

Find 'Unauthorize subscriptions made with the most commonly used spam usernames'

tick 'no'

and save.
