Auto Save Post In Progress

Hello

I was looking through this tutorial and have a question as to the function. I understand if you close your browser, and reopen, the post is not lost. However, if you are in a topic, start a post, go to another topic on another page, come back to the original topic you were posting in, will the post in progress still be there?

From what I tested, yes it will keep the post in thread A if you navigate to thread B.

I followed the instructions and it seems to be working great. One further question, from what I can tell you can only use the back button to get back to the post in progress.

1. I started a post in thread A, clicked View New Posts, Read a couple of pages in thread B, clicked the back button and it took me to the saved post.

2. I started a post in thread A, clicked View New Posts, Read a couple of pages in thread B, clicked View New Posts and went to "the last page" of thread A where my saved post was and it wasn't there.

Please clarify that 1. is the correct way this feature functions, or please advise if I'm missing something.

Sorry for the double post. Never mind. Upon playing with it further it works with example 1 and 2. and also within the same topic going to other pages and back.

I shared that tutorial, and I can tell you that the code allows your browser to save the content of in progress topic unless you clear your cache/cookies

What happens if you or any other poster clears cache/cookies? How do they get it back?

Since the data is cached by the browser, if they happen to clear their browser cache before making their post, the data will be lost. It would be best to finish your post before clearing your cache, or closing your browser if it auto cleans history.
