Solved [Only Topic] WYSIWYG doesn't work

Post by rosahege July 21st 2014, 6:09 pm

Topic made into a only topic.  If you are having the similar issue, please post in this topic.

I'm using phpBB2 and have activated WYSIWYG on the forums.

Today it suddenly stopped working. When you post a message it is like it is not activated, but I checked the admin panel and it is on. I see this may be a global glitch.

    Btw: I use Chrome.

Some members get confused when they write a message without WYSIWYG now when they're used to it

I now have to activate it everytime I post a message? It wasn't needed earlier.

Everytime I am to write a new post I have to click that button. With WYSIWYG activated that button was on by default :/ Why isn't it like that anymore?

Yes. Every single time. Other users experience it too...

I see it is like that in here too when I write a message. Now I don't know it this forum has it activated, but I mention it just in case.

When I posted on my forum this morning it worked fine until 2 hours ago.

    Hi,

Can I advise you try clearing out your cache and cookies and then seeing if you still have to click it every time. It should, by default be normal.

You shouldn't have to click it.

I tried to clear my clear my chaches and cookies. Did not change anything.

We have tested different browsers now. The glitch happened in all of them: Chrome, Fire fox, Explorer and Safari.

    That's odd :/

Maybe I should post a topic about on my forums and see how many people experience it.

Both me and the other admin on my site have this glitch.

Okay. All of the members who replied to the WYSIWYG topic did have the same problem as me and the other admin, and it seems it happens to all browsers.

I've also tried to turn the WYSIWYG off and then on again, but it didn't change anything.

So even though it is activated, you have to click on the "Switch editor mode" to make the WYSIWYG to work.

It does sound like a potential bug.

I'll make a report to a pro admin about this.

Solved Re: [Only Topic] WYSIWYG doesn't work

Post by patiogardener July 22nd 2014, 1:48 am

This is now happening in both my forums. It has nothing to do with clearing cache or cookies, it is a glitch which occurred after my forum played up yesterday with the old white pages/slow loading of previous. (Same as is happening with Forum of the Forums today.)  Fortunately, my forums are now loading normally but the deactivation of the WYSIWYG mode by default is a a real drama. Each time I post in my forums I have to switch on the Switch Editor Mode regardless if is Quick Reply, Post Reply or New Topic. As neither of my my forums are black it is impossible to see the white text.

Yes, I have tested the WYSIWYG mode by default is switched on. Yes it is. Have also tried switching it off then back on. No difference. It is very frustrating to have to click on the Switch Editor Mode each time I want to post. Other members may not realise what is happening & not know to switch it over. They will give up in annoyance & not post.

My forum version is Invision. Browser is Chrome version 38.0.2096.0 dev-m (64bit). OS Windows 8.1.

Both of my forums now appear to be functioning with the WYSIWYG mode editor working as it should.

Many thanks to whoever fixed this. It is a great relief.  :wouhou:

Thanks for confirming your forums editor is working again correctly.

We'll wait for others to post and see if a fix has been implemented.
