Once you have purchased a domain name is it possible to have it altered?

You can cancel it if it isn't already been purchased, I think.

ACP --> Misc --> Spend Credits --> Domain Name --> The option should be available

I don't want to cancel it and yeah it has already been purchased. I was just wondering if it could be changed to something else?

If its already been purchased and paired with your forum you can't make changes too it. I'm afraid.
