We have made no changes on the site what-so-ever and this huge bug seems to come out of the blue. Is this an internal forumotion-error, have any of you experienced anything like this and what can we do to fix the problem? Please, help!

Posts and PMs disappear!
We're having a strange problem on our forum - suddenly PMs and posts in various topics seem to disappear. They are not deleted, it seems, but simply disappear. When entering the same forum later (only minutes later) the posts re-appear, but then other posts disappear in stead. At the same time, PMs also seem to dis- and re-appear.Â

Re: Posts and PMs disappear!
Is this occurring when you view the "last post by" from the forum index?
Or is it when you enter a forum and the topics/threads themselves disappear?

Re: Posts and PMs disappear!
They appear both when I enter a thread and when I view the "last reply by". For example: A user reported this in a thread, in which I replied that I would look into the problem.Â
Later, all replies (except one), including my own had disappeared. When looking at the forum index, it says that there is only one reply.Â
NOTE: These replies have in fact NOT reappeared.

Have you added any JavaScripts to your forum?

Re: Posts and PMs disappear!
I a having the same problem at suzuki800.com, I have had to shut my site while I get to the bottom of it.
Many posts have either disappeared or gone to the wrong thread. I have a busy site and have had a lot of people phoning me to ask what's going on.
I have made no changes to the forum for a very very long time.

Ramdaman: No, nothing has been added. No javascripts, no HTML, no CSS -- absolutely nothing has changed.

Re: Posts and PMs disappear!
Then it looks like a staff member will have to relay this topic to a Pro Admin. Unless there is something else that may be causing it which is fixable on your side.

I will keep my site shut down until I see a solution on here as no changes have been made for months.

Re: Posts and PMs disappear!
Update: Our forum is running more smoothly now and I've asked the members to reply in a specific test-thread, and to note if any of the test-replies disappear, reappear, etc.. The site loads faster now (the loading time increased significantly when the bug appeared) and it seems to improve by the minute. I will keep you updated.

Thanks for the update, this is a major worry in case of mass deletion.

Re: Posts and PMs disappear!
Update:Â Hello again, everyone. Here's another update! After half a day of problems, the forum seems to be working smoothly now. A number of posts (and a single user) was apparently permanently deleted, but alas it seems now, that no more posts or PMs have disappeared since I made this topic. I will keep updating - for science - so if others have the same problem one day, they may find some closure in this topic.

Could it be that members deleted their posts and pm's? Also check here:
AP > General > Forum > Security
Check both logs.

My own test-user was deleted. My own PMs disappeared and my own posts disappeared and then reappeared later.

Re: Posts and PMs disappear!
I was not online at the time, but the first time a user noted it happening, was about seven hours ago - around 13:30 today. And yes, it all happened today on our site.
The site itself still runs a bit slow and has some major lag spikes from time to time.

I am told the first time anything was noticed was around 9 or 10am, It has been sporadic throughout the day.

Re: Posts and PMs disappear!
Considering that the main servers used by Forumotion may well be Linux based, is this problem due perhaps to the recently discovered vulnerability in the Linux tool Bash, resulting in hacker activity on those servers?
The forum I am involved with is also seeing long loading times, and also oddities in postings, in some cases doubling of posts with a time interval between the two doubled posts which was long enough for another member to post in between the two, being one thing I have had happen to me.
I suggest asking the servers if they are aware of problems.
Nev.

We're having the same problem...
Slow load time.
Posts deleted off multiple forums (made by multiple people).
The internet is not my friend today!

Since this is the weekend, we might not get a reply until Monday, unless someone from the office receives the reports.
