Post by Shadow November 14th 2014, 9:53 am

    First topic message reminder :

    Hello

If some administrators have lost a lot of servimg pictures thanks for providing the following information:

    - Url of your forum
    - Link of a broken servimg image

Please note that servimg had some issue few weeks ago. By consequences, it won't be possible to get back pictures.

    Thanks in advance

We just noticed yesterday, but I'm not quite certain how long they have been gone. All of his images previous to early July 2014 are gone. When the member logs on to servimg, the images are just straight up gone. Is this related to issues there, or is it related to some sort of upload limit for servimg? I can't find anything on servimg indicating such a limit, but its pretty bad.

    URL: www.Canadaquaria.ca
    Browser: Chrome

    Missing URL examples:  https://i.servimg.com/u/f58/18/71/35/07/20140328.jpg March 25th, 2014 , https://i.servimg.com/u/f58/18/71/35/07/20140518.jpg, May 9th, https://i.servimg.com/u/f58/18/71/35/07/20140438.jpg April 16th, 2014

This is just a very small list of the missing urls... literally everything before early July is gone.

I do not of any servimg photo limit, I would say it is related. You go to the image link and get only a dot right?

It gives me nothing. Perhaps the member can only see dots on his side, although he said they are completely gone.

No not dots, just A dot, most images that have disappeared from this bug have been replaced with a single barely noticable dot.

Do you or your member have a back up of the images he/she has lost?

yes this is down to the bug

We are sorry for any loss of your items but as we have already said this is not down to anything we have done on FM this is Down to a global issues at servimg @Buttercup Should see if there is still a problem with items going missing.

    Thank you for your report's

I don't believe there is any dot. There is no back up... which is extremely unfortunate. Very big loss of an important resource for our members.

Is there is any reason it's just one member? It seemed to me that many of the other reports were a few pictures here or there. This user lost EVERY single photo for 6 or 7 months.

The problem is when the files are downloaded to there database they are gave a code in the link like this

    https://i.servimg.com/u/f58   https://i.servimg.com/u/f58  https://i.servimg.com/u/f58
as you can see all the codes here >>

All have the number F58 some have the code F34 and so on all the numbers that was lost was them numbers When a member makes a new download it then makes a code just like that but the number will change every so often.  That's why some items are missing and some have not gone from other members.

I appreciate the explanation. Thank you very much.

I don't suppose there has been any sort of a public statement from servimg regarding this issue? I know you guys have apologized a number of time, and it's not really your fault, but where are they in all of this?

Your welcome as for a public statement from servimg regarding this issue? well that i can not really say anything about as i got this info from The head staff of FM where they got it from the tech staff.

You could look on servimg's website to see if there is anything there if not i will be happy to ask for you.

Their website really doesn't even have any sort of a contact form. I mean you guys get all the flack for their meltdown because there is no way for us to easily contact them, I guess except through you. The only thing they seem to have is a report content, and a link to forumotion.

I mean, this member lost literally half a year of photos he spent a lot of time on (and were a major draw to our 300+ members). I understand that catastrophes happen (although I hate to have now suggest to our members not to use forumotion's choice of built in image hosting system... because they might lose everything you spend your time on, and then leave you no way to contact them about it except through a third party), but an apology from myself doesn't fix it. An apology from forumotion doesn't fix it. At least something from servimg might mean something.

maybe this will help with Servimg links or others with the same issue that I have for I figured things out +

it appears that the image data had migrated to another folder for some reason, example:
    html

    link in the gallery

o well that's a lot of links but someone has to do it *rolls up sleeves, cracks knuckles... goes to bed, going to do it later, so tired from work...
