    - the url of the forum: http://www.duelacademy.net/forum
    - description of the problem: Users sometimes are logged out of the chat, then logged back in a moment later. Messages doesn't appear on time. On different occasions, messages appear, and half a second - right after they appear - they disappear for few seconds, and sometimes they never show up again unless someone sends a new message. Also, sometimes it doesn't show the messages sent in the correct order when they were sent; mostly happen when a user send short messages one after another.
    - screenshot if possible: I'm not sure what kind of screenshots. They wouldn't prove anything. You can't show messages that aren't appearing in a screenshot now can you. lol

    The URL Of The Forum: http://www.fairytail-rp.com/

    Description Of The Problem: Over the past 2 weeks I've received numerous complaints with the chatbox, which I have tried to fix. They include messages disappearing, members suddenly disconnecting, and the chatbox being incredibly laggy or slow for players to use. I've tried to used numerous methods and removing a lot of javascript codes and CSS codes that had anything to do with the chatbox. I've also tried using different browsers. I myself have experienced all these issues in the chatbox. Sometimes players will say their message keeps getting 'eaten up' as if they typed something but it never appeared in the chatbox.

    Screenshot If Possible: I would provide a screenshot if it wasn't so hard to get a screenshot of messages disappearing, reappearing, lag, and players disconnecting for no reason. You'd have to experience the issue yourself, or have a screen recorder on at the time the issues happen.

    I'd greatly appreciate it if the bugs/issues were fixed and resolved!

    - Description of the Problem: The chatbox, like other chatboxes on Forumotion hosted forums, has been lagging significantly. Sometimes it won't refresh, sometimes the last few messages disappear and reappear. Everyone is experiencing the same issues on my site. I have replaced the chatbox temporarily with chatango, but I hope this can be resolved so I may switch back to Forumotion's chatbox.

    Well I created a thread few weeks back regarding this but the problem still persists so I thought I should mention it again. The issue we are having with our chatbox is the same as before. The messages gets delayed and we often have to press refresh to see the new messages. But recently pressing refresh doesn't load the message either and we have to reload the browser to see the new message. It's really becoming annoying since chatbox is very important to us.

    This doesn't add anything to what I already know. I know the Tech Team is aware of this, and I also know that you guys are working to fix this as soon as you can. When I'm saying is how long this going to take? A week, month, more? This issue has been happening for almost a month now, that's a pretty long time if you ask me. I need to know what to tell my members. Giving them a formal reply without details wouldn't do me any good as a forum owner.

    Hello dear members

    Here the technicians answer:
    #1270 Chatbox issues 28-11-12

    English translation:

    After many test made on forums' members, some chatbox issues come from 2 bugs:
    1- Some of you have a script to get notifications or a sound for any new messages into the chatbox. This script, created by a FM user, is notcompatible with the last chatbox version.

    Here the following code to remove:

    Code wrote:        $(function() {
             setTimeout(function() {
               for(var c = 0, a = 0;a < window.frames.length;a++) {
                 try {
                   "/chatbox/index.forum" == eval("window.frames[a].location.pathname") && ++c && window.frames[a].eval('function ajax_refresh_chatbox(b,c){if(""==b||void 0==b)b="?achives=0";if(window.XMLHttpRequest)var a=new XMLHttpRequest;else window.ActiveXObject&&(a=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"));a.onreadystatechange=function(){if(4==a.readyState&&200==a.status&&(eval(a.responseText),chatbox_last_update>chatbox_updated||c))null!=document.getElementById("chatbox").innerHTML&&chatbox_messages_old!=chatbox_messages&&(my_setcookie("CNM",1,1,0),chatbox_messages_old=document.getElementById("chatbox").innerHTML=chatbox_messages,document.getElementById("chatbox").scrollTop=document.getElementById("chatbox").scrollHeight+document.getElementById("chatbox").offsetHeight,document.getElementById("chatbox").scrollTop=999999),null!=document.getElementById("chatbox_members").innerHTML&&(document.getElementById("chatbox_members").innerHTML=chatbox_memberlist),chatbox_updated=chatbox_last_update};a.open("GET","/chatbox/chatbox_actions.forum"+b+"&mode=refresh",!0);a.send(null)};$(window).focus(function(){my_setcookie("CHF",1,1,0);my_setcookie("CNM","",0,0)}).blur(function(){my_setcookie("CHF","",0,0);my_setcookie("CNM","",0,0)}).trigger("focus");')
                 }catch(d) {
                 }
               }
               0 < c && function() {
                 $(window).focus(function() {
                   my_setcookie("CHF", 1, 1, 0);
                   my_setcookie("CNM", "", 0, 0)
                 }).blur(function() {
                   my_setcookie("CHF", "", 0, 0);
                   my_setcookie("CNM", "", 0, 0)
                 }).trigger("focus");
                 var a = document.title, b = function() {
                   !my_getcookie("CHF") && my_getcookie("CNM") ? (document.title = a == document.title ? "!! Nouveau message !!" : a, setTimeout(b, 300)) : (document.title = a, setTimeout(b, 5E3))
                 };
                 b()
               }()
             }, 5E3)
           });

    2- Some of you have messages that appear and disappear. Some modifications will be sent sooner online.

    Thanks for your understanding

    Sorry folks, I could not start a new topic about the chatbox, so I made a reply on this topic instead.
    Is there a code or command that I can delete a few chats without deleting the whole thing by using /clear, or editing my own chat in the chatbox

    @buttercup

    Thanks for the update. Unfortunately I don't use the sound script in my forum so that's not really the fix for me. However I was thinking that maybe some other javascript is interfering with the chat? But that's unlikely because there were no issues since the server migration. Nor everyone uses the same JS on every forum.

    Chat was really poor tonight. Since I run a football forum, chat is extremely important to us. Specially on a champions league night. But it was unbearably because messages kept being delayed for minutes and nothing worked. Had to close it eventually.

    I know people are trying to fix this issue but it's been months now and surely there must be some sort of progress by now on this?

    Thanks

    Hello!

    I am particularly watching every minute changes being made in chatbox7.js file!
    It is present in all the forums that have active chatbox and it is through him that we have the chat interface.

    So I assure you that the changes are very significant, functions are being rewritten in jQuery, thus ensuring operation in all browsers!

    So I ask you to wait, because a change in "real time" always has a problem, this is a normal thing.

    I hope you understand and continue posting feedback so that technicians can be knowing of what is happening and thus adapt the code according to what is claimed.

    Thanks for the reply. That's really good to hear. I am a programmer myself(although not JS) so I understand the issue. It was just the lack of update which was worrying. But honestly that was an assuring post.

    I'll be patient and keep you updated if anything improves in the forum.

    I have yet another issue with the chat box.

    It seems that the chatbox isn't lagging as much as it used to be; however, myself - an admin - and other people with mod powers are unable to use the command "/kick' to kick people from the chat. They're able to use "/cls" and "/ban" however. Some people with mod powers are able to use that command, and others aren't, even among those with admin powers.
