    Solved Guest spam

Post by BRYDENGTA November 20th 2014, 9:43 am

Hi last night my forum got spammed by guest posting links to porn/dating sites and I am not sure how they were doing it.

I banned their ip addresses but more kept coming but has stopped now luckily

Why can guest post on the forum? I thought I had made it so they could not but I dont know now.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi! Probably they used the contact form. Go here in your ACP:

GENERAL tab -> Messages & e-mails -> E-mails and Contact form. Now on the right side, in the "Contact Form" field, select: Activate: NO and hit save.

And you might wanna review your forum permissions as well (GENERAL tab -> Forum -> Categories & Forums).

Do you mean posts on your forum?  Do you allows members to delete their accounts?  If you do, then members can post these things and then delete their accounts which will make the authors of the spam guest.
